Childhood sexuality

Childhood sexuality is fundamentally different from adult sexuality. It is an independent part of a person’s sexual development. Children create a sense of well-being by cuddling, caressing and snuggling. Playfully exploring their own bodies with all their senses, developing a sense of shame and communicating boundaries are key aspects of (child) sexual development.
Adult sexuality, on the other hand, is purposeful, erotic and more focussed on genital sexuality.
