Intimacy is a state of great closeness and mutual trust. Sometimes the phrase ‘intimacy’ is also used to mean ‘being together sexually’. Sexual intimacy can be an expression of love or lust. However, intimate moments between people are not necessarily sexual and, conversely, sexual contact is not always associated with intimacy.
