Queer
Translation: Queer
Queer is a collective term for people of different sexual, gender and romantic orientations and identities who position themselves outside of heteronormative ideas such as ‘man’ and ‘woman’, ‘homo’ or ‘hetero’. Queer in the sense of ‘weird’ was long used in English as an insult for people outside of sexual and gender norms. The term has since become a positive self-designation for many people.
