Discrimination refers to the disadvantages faced by people on the basis of certain characteristics such as gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion and the associated social power relations. Those who are discriminated against can be affected by prejudice, hostile behaviour or structural discrimination. Many people experience multiple forms of discrimination, for example queer people with disabilities.
