Cisgender

Cisgender refers to all people whose gender identity corresponds to the gender assigned at birth. Cis (Latin for ‘on this side’) is the opposite of ‘trans’ (Latin for ‘across’, ‘through’). Our society is cis-normative, i.e. it is assumed that all people are cisgender (-> Normativity).
