Coming-Out

Translation: Coming-Out
The inner coming out refers to the process in which a person discovers and recognises their own gender identity, sexual and/or romantic orientation. In our society, it is usually assumed that people are heterosexual and cisgender (-> normativity). If you tell other people about it, this is referred to as an external coming out. An external coming out often lasts a lifetime.
