Intersex people are those whose physical characteristics (such as genitals, hormones or chromosomes) deviate from the norm of unambiguous bi-sexuality (male/female). Intersexuality is not sick or wrong, but part of gender diversity. Nevertheless, gender reassignment surgery is often carried out without consent, even though there is no medical need for it. People who are not intersex are referred to as ‘endo’.
