Speaking of Sex
The Expotizer to the Exhibition
Lets’s Talk! When was the last time you talked about sex?
The sexual morality of our culture shapes the way we speak about intimate topics. In recent decades, sexual morales have changed. New contraceptive methods, comprehensive sexual education and progress in gender equality have contributed to this. But above all, the desire of many people to live out their own sexuality in a self-determined and open manner.
Who provides sexual education and how? What influence do the media worlds that surround us have on our sexuality? We explore these and many other questions in the “Speaking of Sex” exhibition at the Museum for Communication in Berlin.
Conversations about intimate topics can still make us feel embarrassed. But that doesn’t stop us from being curious or keeping an open mind. Do you find it hard to talk about your own body? What does it feel like to be in love? Talking with others allows us to understand and analyse our own emotions.
This website is the virtual extension of the exhibition. Here you get to take a look behind the scenes of the museum, digital additions to the exhibition are published and you can get an overview of the tour and the themes.
In our blog, the Museum for Communication in Frankfurt, where the exhibition was previously on display, has compiled stories about the exhibition.
We would like to engage in dialogue with you even before the exhibition opens in October: How and with whom do you talk to about sexuality? How have you been given sexual education?
Feel free to share your opinions here. Anonymously, of course!

When does the exhibition open?
The doors to “Speaking of Sex” open from Wednesday, October 16th, 2025. It will then be on public display at the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin until Sunday, September 6, 2026. It will be shown at the Museum für Kommunikation Nuremberg from October 2026 onwards.
You can find our opening hours here.
Our accompanying programme for the exhibition can be found here.
Can I myself contribute to the exhibition?
Absolutely! We have created an interactive page with a survey where you can share your experiences and opinions on the exhibition topic, of course anonymously. Statistics will be compiled for all to see.
Who is the exhibition suited for? Is there an age restriction?
The exhibition is designed for all interested visitors aged 14 and above. However, this is not a strict age limit: we invite parents and carers of younger visitors to decide for themselves whether and to what extent they want to visit our exhibition. Our museum is a place for families and school classes. Content that could be potentially disturbing is clearly marked. Our Colleagues from the Museum for Communication Frankfurt where the exhibition was created worked closely with their cooperation partners from the Federal Center for Health Education and other experts to ensure that sensitive content is handled appropriately.
